Patrick Summers
Patrick joined Chappell Partners in 2018. He practices in the area of commercial litigation and has extensive experience in trial, administrative hearings, civil motions and appellate work, at all levels of the Ontario Courts.
As a practitioner of commercial litigation, Patrick has represented clients in disputes that involve shareholder and partner issues, including those involving claims of oppression, in both profit and non-profit corporations and organizations. He also represents clients in matters involving estate litigation, real estate and real property disputes, including those related to condominiums, commercial leases, mortgage fraud, uncertain agreements, environmental claims, fault construction and mortgage enforcement.
He also represents clients in matters dealing with broadcasting and media law, internet law, trademarks, copyright and privacy issues, in employment law – for both employers and employees, and construction lien matters.
Patrick is a member of the Canadian Bar Association, the Advocates Society, and has taught Civil Procedure at the Ontario Bar Admissions Court. He has written extensively on a variety of civil litigation issues, including the intricacies of the Rules of Civil Procedure and the process of litigation.
Patrick was born in Montreal, QC, and raised in St. John’s Newfoundland. He has a B.A. from Memorial University of Newfoundland and a LL.B from Osgoode Hall in Toronto.
